Platform Comparison
FieldHive vs Commusoft
FieldHive and Commusoft both help trade businesses manage customers, quotes, bookings and invoices. But they are built for different stages of operation.
FieldHive gives owner-managed trade businesses a focused mobile system for building reusable pricing, sending quotes, booking work and creating invoices. Commusoft provides a broader field-service platform for businesses that need separate staff users, team dispatch, detailed job records, stock control, asset histories, service contracts and commercial reporting now.
Commusoft currently covers more of the wider office, engineer and customer workflow. The important question is whether your business needs that operational depth today — or whether FieldHive provides the structure you need without introducing a larger system.
Commusoft

Fixed-price, hourly and time-and-materials quotes
Bookings
Invoices

A focused option for getting pricing, quotes, bookings and invoices organised.
The business needs a wider operational system covering:
Separate office and engineer accounts
Individual staff schedules

Custom forms
Engineer timesheets
Vehicle tracking
Parts, suppliers and stock control
Asset service histories
Service contracts and planned maintenance
Customer portals
Job costing and reporting

The customer is saved once. Pricing can be built once and reused. Bookings remain connected to the customer and quoted work. Invoices can continue from information already entered.
FieldHive currently operates through one main account. It can therefore suit a sole trader or a small business where the owner or administrator controls the pricing, bookings and paperwork.
A more focused starting point when the immediate priority is consistent pricing, clear quotes, bookings and invoices.
Commusoft is designed to manage jobs across office staff, managers and engineers. Its plans can include scheduling, mobile job updates, vehicle tracking, parts and suppliers, custom forms, customer communication, stock control, service contracts, asset maintenance and job-cost reporting.
That makes Commusoft the stronger current fit when several people need to work through the system and each job must be controlled in more detail. FieldHive offers a more focused starting point when the immediate priority is consistent pricing, clear quotes, bookings and invoices.
Build Your Pricing Once
Each catalogue item can hold material cost, labour fit time, markup and the final customer price — not just a description and selling price.
Items can be organised into folders, edited and reused across future quotes, so the next quote starts from pricing already worked out. That keeps pricing consistent and makes it clearer when costs, fitting times or margins need adjusting.
Quote Different Types of Work Properly
Not every job should be priced the same way. FieldHive supports fixed-price, time-and-materials and hourly-rate quotes.
Quotes can use saved catalogue items or manually entered work. Totals are calculated inside the app and the finished quote can be previewed as a PDF and sent to the customer.
AI Quote Rewrite helps improve the clarity of descriptions. It does not set prices or make commercial decisions.
Keep Customer Records Together
Each customer record holds contact details, addresses, notes, quote history and invoice history.
When a customer returns, you can see what was previously quoted and invoiced without searching through old emails or folders. The history stays with the customer rather than being rebuilt each time.
Connect Quotes, Bookings and Invoices
A quote can move into a booking that stores the customer, work details, date and time. When the work is ready to invoice, the invoice can be created from the quote rather than typed out again.
Invoices can be presented as simple, detailed or materials-and-labour breakdowns, then recorded as paid or unpaid — giving a clear record of what remains outstanding.
Use Deposits and Progress Claims
FieldHive Business supports deposit invoices, progress claims and final invoicing.
A builder may request a deposit before ordering materials; an electrician may invoice after first fix, second fix and completion; a landscaper may split preparation, installation and finishing. The invoicing can follow how the work is delivered.
Start Without Paying
FieldHive Free costs £0 per month and includes up to five active quotes plus unlimited invoices, customers, catalogue items and bookings — with PDF documents, your company logo, CIS support, AI Quote Rewrite and 10 AI credits each month.
The limit applies to quotes that remain active, not an allowance of five per month. Once a quote is no longer active, it stops counting towards the limit.
Remove the Quote Limit Without Rebuilding
FieldHive Business costs £14.99 per month or £144 per year, adding unlimited quotes, deposit invoices, progress claims, availability indicators, automated reminders, 100 AI credits and removal of FieldHive branding.
Moving to Business does not mean starting again — your customers, catalogue and previous quotes and invoices all remain in place.
Use the Full App on iPhone and Android
FieldHive is an installable mobile app for iPhone and Android, designed around phone use. Create quotes, check bookings and issue invoices from the customer’s property, a site, the van, the merchant or home.
FieldHive is currently mobile-only and does not provide desktop or browser access.
Use UK Trade Support
CIS support is included from the free plan, alongside VAT and tax settings, hourly rates, currency and regional settings, company details, company logo and document branding.
FieldHive launched first for the UK market, although the product is not positioned as UK-only.
Separate Users and Team Scheduling
Commusoft is designed for businesses where office staff, managers and engineers all work through the system. Each person who uses the Jobs platform requires a licence and their own login, and staff appear in the diary so jobs and appointments can be assigned to them, with no fixed limit on users.
Its scheduling can include team diary views, job assignment, engineer availability, skill-based filtering, suggested appointments, shift patterns, route optimisation and mass scheduling on its highest standard plan.
FieldHive does not currently provide separate staff logins, individual engineer diaries or complete team dispatch.
Detailed Job Records
Commusoft gives each job a more detailed operational record — engineer notes, photos and videos, digital forms, job statuses, customer details, work history, parts used, labour time, attached documents and signatures.
Its Jobs area is described as a central record covering the work from the initial quote through to the final invoice, with live information shared between office and engineers.
FieldHive connects customers, quotes, bookings and invoices but does not yet provide the same depth of engineer-updated job records.
Mobile Working and Offline Access
Commusoft provides mobile apps for iPhone and Android, and engineers can work offline, manage multi-day jobs, attach photos and videos and collect customer signatures onsite — useful in basements, plant rooms, rural properties, construction sites and buildings with unreliable coverage.
FieldHive provides its main mobile experience on iPhone and Android but does not currently offer offline working.
Parts, Suppliers and Stock Control
Commusoft’s entry Jobs plan includes parts and supplier management. Higher Customer Journey and Automation plans add stock control, including multi-location stock, and supplier invoice importing is listed as an enhancement on the Customer Journey plan.
This allows a business to manage more of the material flow around a job — parts required, supplier information, purchasing, supplier invoices, stock in different locations and materials used by engineers.
FieldHive stores material costs within catalogue items but does not currently manage purchasing, supplier invoices or live stock quantities.
Asset Maintenance and Service History
Commusoft supports asset maintenance across its Jobs plans. Businesses can record equipment against customers and sites, view previous service history and manage more complex asset structures on higher plans, and the platform is positioned for multi-site customers, active SLAs and detailed equipment histories.
This may suit businesses maintaining boilers and heating, air-conditioning, electrical assets, fire and security systems, renewable-energy equipment, commercial plant and managed property portfolios.
FieldHive does not currently provide a dedicated asset register or individual equipment service histories.
Service Contracts and Planned Maintenance
Commusoft’s Customer Journey and Automation plans include service contracts, supporting planned preventive maintenance, service-level requirements, recurring visits and automated contract invoicing.
That makes it better suited to companies managing annual service agreements, commercial maintenance contracts, multiple sites, regular inspection programmes, response-time commitments and recurring contract invoices.
FieldHive currently supports individual bookings but does not provide complete contract or planned-maintenance management.
Customer Portal and Online Booking
Commusoft’s higher plans add wider customer-facing tools. The Customer Journey plan includes automatic online appointment booking and a customer portal, adds service-level monitoring for larger customers and supports more developed customer communication, so customers can access information without calling the office for every update.
FieldHive currently stores customer records and sends documents but does not provide customers with their own portal or online self-booking.
Job Costing and Reporting
Commusoft provides job costing and reporting across its standard Jobs plans, comparing labour, parts and overhead against the job value so the business can see the actual profit margin. It also promotes reports covering engineer performance, quote conversion, contract profitability and SLA performance.
FieldHive helps users build prices from material costs, fit times and markup, but does not currently compare those estimates against actual job labour and costs.
Accounting and Wider Integrations
Commusoft currently lists accounting connections with Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, FreeAgent and KashFlow, and provides wider integration options and APIs for more complex enterprise requirements.
FieldHive does not currently provide accounting integrations or an external API.

Commusoft’s exact functionality depends on the plan selected.
FieldHive Free — £0 per month
Includes five active quotes and unlimited invoices, customers, catalogue items and bookings.
FieldHive Business — £14.99 per month or £144 per year
Adds unlimited quotes, deposit invoices, progress claims, availability indicators and automated reminders.
FieldHive currently operates through one main account.
Commusoft does not currently publish fixed subscription prices on its UK plans page. Its Jobs plans are:
Go Paperless
Customer Journey
Automation
Enterprise
Plans are priced per licence, per month, based on a 12-month contract, with onboarding required and charged separately. Office staff, managers and engineers who use the Jobs system require licences.
Commusoft also offers contracted licences, rolling monthly licences for temporary or seasonal workers and daily licences for subcontractors. The exact monthly cost depends on the plan, number of users, licence types, required onboarding and additional products.
The current product begins with customers, pricing, quotes, bookings and invoices.
As the workload increases, FieldHive Business removes the active-quote limit and adds deposits, progress claims, availability indicators and automated reminders. The purpose is to give a smaller business useful structure without requiring licences, onboarding, stock processes, asset registers and service-contract controls before they are useful.
Commusoft is already structured for businesses with office staff, managers and a mobile engineering workforce.
Its plans move from paperless job management into route optimisation, stock control, service contracts, customer portals, mass scheduling, workflow automation and enterprise integrations.

FIELDHIVE APPROACH
Imagine an electrical business with four people: the owner, two electricians and one apprentice. The owner handles customer records, pricing, quotes, bookings, invoices and payment-status checks.
The electricians carry out the work but do not need their own software accounts or individual schedules. FieldHive can manage the main admin through one account.
Commusoft approach
Now imagine the business has office administrators, a service manager, several engineers, multiple vehicles, regular maintenance contracts and commercial customers with several sites. Each engineer needs to view a schedule, receive assigned jobs, access equipment history, add photographs and notes, complete digital forms, record time and parts, collect signatures and work without signal.
The office also needs to dispatch the nearest suitable engineer, track jobs and vehicles, manage suppliers and stock, monitor service agreements, review actual job profitability, give customers portal access and sync invoices to accounting software.
Commusoft already provides that structure
Separate office and engineer users with schedules
Intelligent dispatch and vehicle tracking
Detailed job records and offline engineer working
Parts, suppliers and multi-location stock
Asset maintenance, SLAs and service contracts
Custom forms, job costing and customer portals
