Call-outs
A call-out charge is more than turning up
Before you touch a single job, a call-out has already cost you travel time and miles on the van. The charge has to cover that, plus a minimum amount of your time.
Charge too little and every short job loses money once you count the drive. Pick a random round number and you either scare customers off or leave money on the table.
This calculator builds the figure from your own numbers: your hourly rate, a minimum time, the travel to get there and an optional out-of-hours uplift.

Travel is time you cannot sell
Every minute driving to a job is a minute you are not being paid for. The further you go, the more each call-out has to carry.
You decide how much of your round-trip travel time to charge for — none, half or all — plus the real cost of the miles. Fuel, servicing, tyres and insurance all add up per mile.
Out of hours
Charge more when it costs you more
An evening, night or weekend call-out interrupts your own time and usually means an emergency for the customer. That is worth an uplift.
Add an out-of-hours percentage and the calculator raises the whole charge and the follow-on hourly rate, so a 9pm emergency is priced differently to a Tuesday morning visit.
