Search ‘snag list template’ and you get two things: static ‘what to look for’ checklists written for homebuyers, and blank defect grids you have to format yourself. Neither is built for the person actually closing the job out.
This is the trade-side version: fill the snags in on screen and get a tracked, re-issuable snagging list — each defect with a status, an owner and a target date.
A snags-closed count that drives to zero
Every snag carries a status — open, in progress or fixed — and the list shows a live count of how many are outstanding versus closed. That number is the sign-off: when it hits zero, the job is done and the final payment is due.
Re-issue the updated list after each visit so the client can see progress rather than re-explaining it.

Snag list vs snagging report vs punch/defects list
Snag list / snagging report
UK terms for the same thing — the list of defects to put right before sign-off.
Punch list
The US term for a snag list — identical idea, different name.
Defects list
Often used post-completion (e.g. during a defects liability period) but built the same way.
From walk-round to signed-off in three steps
From a site inspection to a list that closes the job.
Log the project
Site, client, who prepared it and the inspection date.
Add each snag
Location, the defect, who’s responsible, its priority and a target date.
Track and re-issue
Mark snags fixed as they’re done and re-download the PDF until the count hits zero.
For any snagging job — houses or commercial
It works for a new-build handover, a refurb, a fit-out or a commercial project — anywhere you need to track defects to zero before sign-off. Add or remove snags per job.
It's a document to record and track snags clearly — not a building survey, and not construction, contractual or legal advice.
Turn it into a connected job workflow
FieldHive keeps the enquiry, quote, job, invoice and payment connected — so it's built from the accepted quote instead of retyped, and the numbers carry through.
